I am trying to phone the IR about a tax query. Is the whole world phoning them (and hence the engaged tone) or do they not have any sort of queueing system?

Tried using ring back but the automated voice said there was a fault. Maybe they have all taken their phones off the hook at once Angry.

Probably they are but surely the IR could pay for an answer machine. Or even just use 1571 Grin.

I wonder if it's all the tax offices or just the one I need?

I couldn't get through for ages either so in the end I had to type a letter.

I was even trying to tell them I think I will have to pay more tax!
