Children saying "I love you"

We've always been really open and say it at the end of phone calls, bedtime etc. But have noticed that dd, who's almost 9, doesn't say it anymore. Its at bedtime I've noticed it, I always say goodnight sleep tight love you and she always used to say love you too. But past few months she hasn't. Not really bothered as I know she does, just wondered if they do stop saying it, not cool or something!
Any experiences?

She's almost grown up now posey - far too babyish!

Thought so. Its just that she's never done hugging, so I liked that. Next she won't want kissing!

Recently took DD (6) to her cousin's 9th birthday party. All the little girls there were dressed like teenagers DD wanted me to stay as she was the smallest but the girls were not very happy about it I can tell you.

Am dreading DD getting to that age.

my ds 11years still says i love you, he'l even call out in front of his mates or when he turns round to wave when walking off to school

DD is 6 but doesn't say I love you unless she hears her brother say it (he is 3). She loves kisses and cuddles though all the time.

I did wonder at what age they seem to think its not cool.

she's 7 now, I forgot

Posey · 21/02/2006 21:49

Its wierd though cos in so many ways dd just doesn't care what anyone thinks, isn't bothered by peer pressure and is still no where near "teenage" in so many ways. Ah well.

I repeat it over and over to ds (8)in stupid voices untill he says it back to get rid of me.

But otherwise ...no and tbh , he never says it

Posey! know how you feel!!Say it all the time to my boys.A little while ago my ds(10)asked us not to sit with him at bedtime anymore "because he is too big now",I love that time because it is "our time".I said ok if that's what you want but explained that it doesn't matter if you still want cuddles & kisses when your bigger, & your friends can't see you. 2 days and he was asking us to stay again as he missed it too!!.They grow up too fast don't they!!
