Hi, my name is Lisa and I am new to Mumsnet. I am 28 years old and am married to Chris. We have a 6 month daughter called Yasmin who was born on 31 May 2003. I live in Denmead which is near to Portsmouth/Waterlooville/Petersfield. I would be really interested in getting to know anyone who lives nearby.

Love Lisa

Mum2Yasmin,

Hi! I live in Stubbington, which isn't far away from you at all! I'm married, 31, and a full-time mum to my two little girls aged 3 and 11 months. Do you work or are you a SAHM (stay at home mum)?

Mum2Yasmin · 05/12/2003 12:11

Hi kando

I work part time (Wed, Thurs,Fri) and would love to be SAHM!!! I've only just returned to work after 7 months off. I look after Yasmin the other 2 days. Stubbington isn't too far away so we could get to know each other and meet up at some point! Unfortunately, I haven't met too many other Mums so it would be great to make new friends. What are your little girls names?

Hi Lisa,

Sorry, haven't been able to log on as much. My girls are called Katharyn (spelling giving my identity away to anyone who may know me!!) and Olivia. It's actually Kat's third birthday today - I can hardly believe it! (Shouldn't really be on mumsnet either, but she's totally engrossed with her new mini-kitchen!) I know how you feel about not meeting any other mums though. We used to live in Kent and the only mums I knew were at my post-natal group, but we moved down here just before the last "session" so I had to start from scratch down here. Fortunately I got to know some of the mums from the baby-weighing clinic and we all got together.

What kind of work do you do?

Hi Kando

Sorry to have not emailed you sooner...Yasmin has been ill and I only returned to work today where I have unrestricted access to the internet....hubbie has a computer but I always end up crashing it!

I work in our Local Planning Department as an Assistant Planner (I spend my time dealing with planning applications for extensions etc). I've only returned to work because I have to...I would loved to have stayed home with Yasmin full time but it wasn't possible. Have you always been a full time Mum?

Sorry to hear that Yasmin has been unwell - hope she's better now! I'm only a SAHM because of circumstances more than anything. Before I had Katharyn I was a secretary for a law firm in central London (City). DH's work is based in London but about a month after Katharyn was born, we were offered a "posting" down here. Otherwise I would have gone back to work 3 days a week, Katharyn would be in a nursery and we probably wouldn't have planned dd2 quite so soon! It's all worked out rather well for us! Must go as the dds must be up to mischief - it's gone very quiet in here! "Speak" soon.
