In laaarge quantities. For cleaning.

Cos I think to buy white wine vinegar in Tescos would be more expensive than cleaning products. And those little tubs of bicarb of soda are a PITA.

Any ideas? Ta.

what is gloop?

bettys · 21/02/2006 08:04

Would white pickling vinegar do instead? Comes in much bigger bottles (it's what I use for making volcanoes)

acetic acid and water makes white vinegar

you can get acetic acid in Sainsbury's and waitrose

Thanks zippi. Will try. Do you know where it would be in Sainsbury's eg with cooking stuff?

think it has to be wine vinegar, bettys. But ta.

gloop is washing powder made from soda crysals and soap. I'll post a link if anyones interested.

If you want it for cleaning, it's not white wine vinegar you need; it's just ordinary white vinegar. Huge difference!

zippitippitoes · 21/02/2006 08:27

I think pickling vinegar is distilled white vinegar so is the right thing

Filyjonk · 21/02/2006 08:29

Oh, okay, that makes more sense, I thought people were washing their baths out with wine vinegar! Was a bit suprised.

Pickling vinegar it is. I seem to remember from a C&G photogrpahy course that you can buy aecetic acid crystals? May do that.

Anyone know about bicarb of soda?

you can ger Sodium bicarbonate in the home baking part of just about any supermarket. Larger amounts? Try the chemists shop?

zippitippitoes · 21/02/2006 08:38

I don't think it works out cheaper getting bigger boxes of bicarb, in fact the opposite seems to be true?
