York to Leeds in rush hour, how long?

Hi all, it may be a long shot but do any of you lovely people commute from York to Leeds in the morning and back in the evening.

I'm looking at jobs in Leeds but will have to live in York (DP commitments etc.). We will be moving before I take any job, my initial plan was to jump on the train however and are finding it difficult to find suitable properties near enough to the station that it wouldn't be a massive pain to do so. The other option is to drive and therefore be more flexible with where we live.

Obviously depends which side of York you choose. It can be a nightmare on the ring road or just getting out of York but once you are on the a64 then a1/m1 link should be plain sailing. I would estimate about 40 mins. Where in York you are you looking at?

And it depends where in Leeds you need to get to - middle of town - I would aim to get there early rather than 9am. East side - not too much problem - west side you'll have to fight your way round.
