Dh and I have always wanted know what to do with any winnings if the lottery ticket was given to us as the guests at a wedding. Would you tell the bride and groom, or would you keep it quiet? Would you share any of your winnings - and if so by what percentage?

My answers would be - yes I would tell the B&G, but only if I won over £1000 as I have far too much of a guilty concience! As for a percentage share - I have no idea.

Was the lottery ticket like a table favour? We just had fortune cookies!

If I won a million, I'd be be happy to buy 'em another toaster or two!

Yes - they were given as table favours. I've been to 3 weddings now where this has been the case. Never won a bean on them though !

I'm thinking the same as you firefox, I'd tell them if it was a lot but I think my "tell them" amount would be more than yours - probably about £5k

I'd get them a nice little gift to say thanks.

If I won millions.... I'd take them on holiday, then jet back to my luxury pad

We gave out lottery tickets at our wedding, and it never crossed my mind to expect a return. Fortunately as no-one won more than a tenner, the question didn't arise!

I'd like to think that if I won a huge amount I'd do something nice for the bride & groom though.

I'd assess the situation once I had deducted the astronomical costs apparently now associated with being a wedding guest (hen weekends in Prague, fancy togs, 24/7 weekend babysitting because your kids aren't invited , preposterous gift list ideas ).
I think we are talking six figures before I'd fess up

Depends how much I liked the bride and groom, and how much I won (and if I thought I could get away with not 'fessing..."oh yes, we won £17 million...but not with the lottery ticket from your wedding...oh no siree.")

Never heard of this idea, sounds great!

Depends on how much I won, certainly wouldnt share a tenner! If it was the jackpot, I would probably buy them a house to set them up in their marriage!
