i use the one on genesreunited.... and have already had several emails from people who seem to be "relation.... (ie descendants of G G G G G grandparents!)

ive only been doung it a week and a half and am genuinely amazed at what i have fgound out.

Ive done the 2 week free trial on ancestry.com and got pretty much all my G G G grandparents, plus alot of G G G G ones as well.... even one G G G G G grandmother born in 1764!

hi helsi
i use paf5.2 (personal ancestral file). this is freeware, and can be downloaded through the website of the latter day saints (familysearch.org). they have a searchengine where you can look for ancestors too.

I am also interested in this, but do these sites just cover the uk. My parents are Irish so would I be able to trace things through these sites?

cutekids · 14/02/2006 12:23

genes reunited seems to be the best one.

Can also recommend (for research purposes) British Origins and for Carameli, Irish Origins. Ancestry.co.uk have some Irish records
