Would like to get darling hubby something nice for St Val's day but don't know what. Have no money for a start! Am going to throw together a nice meal in the evening but would like to get him a little trinket ...

Obviously I know it's all a load of hype etc etc ... but if I don't get something from him I will be livid

I've got dh a CD that he was after (Katie Melua ... can't stand her myself). We don't go a bundle on Valentine's Day because it's both our wedding anniversary and my birthday within a few days.

The first Valentine's Day we were together, I took him to Paris and he got me a torch for my car. I gave up all hope there and then of ever getting anything romantic from him

NomDePlume · 12/02/2006 19:14

a card.

Cadbury · 12/02/2006 19:22

a card without too mushy sentiments (none of them seemed right when I looked) and the schotts almanac he didn't get for christmas and then didn't get for his birthday. not very romanic but then i don't feel very romantic.

You lot are making me feel guilty. (except you Franny. That's taking things too far ). Perhaps I'll surprise him with something after all. Then he'll feel guilty for not getting me anything.

hate cards, such a ripoff (bah humbug) so we spend the money on (more) chocolate and wine. He gets me a decent bottle of plonk and I buy him lots of grownup chocolate (grren&blacks or similar).

Well this is for his birthday next week...

Every Sunday evening, he irons five shirts for the following week.

So I'm giving him four vouchers, each worth 5 shirts-worth of ironing. Shudder I know I will regret it...

But it's CHEAP!
