My ds had a blood test to find out what he was allergic to. It also uncovered a problem with his immune system.

Happycat - I have had allergy tests a few years ago. One where they taped stuff onto my back and left them there for 3 days! And the other was a blood test. The blood test showed a rather nasty reaction to Tomatoes, which I luurrrrrv. So yes, it worked well for me.

We've all been allergy tested as part of some research on asthma. I was the only one who had no allergies. The others allergies ranged from mould, through trees to dogs and grass. It helped in as much as we could avoid triggers.
