Tesco really ballsed up my on-line shopping so am complaining. Anyone had any joy from their customer services?

To cut a long story short we ended up with 3 mixed bags of shopping, some with ours in and someone elses items and another bag full of some other poor persons groceries.

We also had 2 missing items and out of date "fresh" bread sent.

Really cheesed off so I've wrote a complaint letter which I'm going to e-mail them with later.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has complained about them and if you got anywhere with it?

I hate Tescos.. sorry, that doesn't help, but makes me feel better

MissChief · 09/02/2006 11:16

yeah, regular feature on our w/e to do list - must complain to Tesco! Get some vouchers from them as recompense and ask to be credited for missing/outofdate items.; If no joy with customer service, call yr local store, ask to speak to manager. Polite, firm hassling works wonders, IMO!

bakedpotato · 09/02/2006 11:18

I found Tesco cust service less than grovelly when they busted their time slot, so never shopped with them again
Go in hard, demand percentage 20%? for inconveniece plus refunds, as goodwill gesture to persuade you to give them another try
My finest hour was getting Ocado to refund extra £20 to cover our takeaways

Nbg · 09/02/2006 11:20

Never had a problem before.

Tbh if it was just one bag I wouldn't care less but to mix 3 bags up is just sheer carelessness.

My letter is quite sarcastic and I think I've managed to put across how peed off I am.

Chuffin Tesco!

That reminds me, must check to see if Ocado have started delivering in our area.

They ballsed up my inline shopping and I complained via email and had email from customer service apologising but not offering any money off. So have stopped online shopping for now, tempted to shop elsewhere but Tesco has monopoly round where I live.

Rojak · 09/02/2006 11:25

online !!! not inline.

BudaBabe · 09/02/2006 11:25

They left out 3 bottles of wine on a delivery for me once and my Dad had already signed for it. I phoned, explained and they refunded the money.

MissChief · 09/02/2006 11:26

IKWYM - hate them with a vengeance too (hence happy to complain loudly to them!) But Ocado is SO much more expensive - do occasional order with them for "special" stuff that can't get elsewhere, but staples have to come from Tesco to keep the food bill reasonable..

Nbg · 09/02/2006 11:31

We used to go with Asda, never had a problem but we found that we were having to wait up to a week for deliveries where as with Tesco I can always get next day delivery if I need it.

I think we'll just have to wait from now on with Asda.

OP posts:
alliep30 · 09/02/2006 11:39

we only have waitrose as our other option here, and i'm not made of money so that's a no no...
Tescos shop saturday:

No baked beans
No bananas
No petits filous

alliep30 · 09/02/2006 11:40

I hate Tescos. is there an echo in here....

katzg · 09/02/2006 11:47

when tesco did this to us, we got 2 bags of someone elses shopping and were missing 2 of ours, they refunded all the missing items and we got to keep the extra shopping as a good will jester, which was great, other family had ordered lots of expensive crisps and snacks which i never order! and the things missing we just boring mundane stuff. think they might also have refunded the delivery charge too

I've just checked my e-mail and they have refunded my missing items.

They were only a big bag of frozen chips and a BOGOF toothbrush but needless to say I cant brush my teeth with a selection of tinned peas, tinned peaches, tinned pears and granualted tea!

Tescos are the most shite customer service in the world!! I hate them!

Having said that I phoned the phone number on my receipt when they sent me off baby corn (it was green!) and they credited my account straight away. Always speak on the phone (queueing takes ages though) if you write a letter you will wait 4 weeks for a standard response and still get no joy from them - they are evil dictators and they must be stopped!!!! Grrrr

bagpussmice · 09/02/2006 14:41

Another Tesco hater here too. They cocked up so many of my orders I gave up and now refuse to shop in any of their stores.... had arguements with customer services/delivery team/managers.... hate 'em.
Try Sainsburys on line -they have been great for me so far.

pacinofan · 09/02/2006 18:21

I have used Tesco online for over 2 years now and yes, initially I had loads of problems with deliveries. We perservered, I always type specific instructions in the boxes (even down to 'don't deliver me bendy celery/sell by at least 7 days please) and that way if the fresh stuff is pants, at least I have a leg to stand on.

Last week - delivery booked 0900-1100. 1105, no delivery still, the store called to say they would be late and was it a problem? I said we still needed the shopping but expected them to waive the delivery charge, shopping arrived pretty soon after with no delivery charges. No problems with produce, including fresh, but they had failed to recognise my £10 off code. I emailed them and they have refunded, no problem.

Guess it depends on who receives your complaint/how stretched the service is. I think our local store had a new manager and he has really improved our local store, thank goodness. No choice where we live (semi-rural), Tesco has the monopoly and being heavily pregnant I will definitely continue to use.

Ime a letter to your local store manager as well as emailing Tesco online will get you further, hopefully some goodwill vouchers to treat yourselves with. Good luck!

bubblerock · 09/02/2006 18:29

I ring them with any complaints and they give me refunds whilst on the phone. They have always been good here.

tamum · 09/02/2006 18:29

I stopped using them, not so much because they were so dire with their deliveries and subs, but because of their utterly crap customer service. Just form emails that were completely unrelated to the complaint.

alliep30 · 09/02/2006 18:43

aaah, just remembered. I hate Tescos

calpopscalum · 09/02/2006 19:06

Never had any joy with emails bu always OK with CS on the phone. have had delivery charge refunded when 10 mins late, got to keep someone else's shopping when I got itby mistake, lat week the eggs had smashed so they refunded them and asked what else was in the bag - they refunded all the cost for those items too. have had the odd problem with exra points codes etc not being added but always have had them after ohoning up. Think sometimes they just want to get you off the phone so give you refunds/extra points to shut you up and give them peace!!! An email is too easy to ignore, a ranting mum to 2 toddlersscreaming in the background when you're wearing a telephone head set is not!! Couldn' live without tescos - the points pay for all or holidays!
