Anyone paid by cheque for a passport?

Sent off for a new passport 6 weeks ago, standard service with a cheque for payment.

The leaflet says I should have received the passport by the 6 week point (usually).

I'm a bit surprised the cheque hasn't cleared yet as I would have thought this would happen before the passport is actioned. Not sure if this makes any sense Blush

If anyone else has paid by cheque did it clear your bank before the passport was sent out?

TIA Grin

DH recently paid by cheque, no idea if it would have cleared (sorry) as he had written the wrong date on it. They were very efficient and sent us a letter, asking him to contact them. He paid by card over the phone.

They are a lot better than they used to be so will usually either write or ring if there is a problem. Hope that helps a little bit.

Did you send it recorded? I.e. do you know it actually got to them? I just sent off for a renewal of mine and my DD's first ever one ( meant to take longer) paid with the same cheque. Both arrived yesterday, As far as I can remember, that was 2 1/2wks after I sent the application. The supporting documents I sent with it arrived 2 days before! Sounds like yours might've been lost?!

Did this a couple of months ago and paid by cheque. It came back quickly - well within the 6 weeks
