Other than a charity shop - old toys / clothes??

I'm having a bit of a clear out and have a few black bin bags of toys and books and kids clothes.
I've taken a lot of stuff to charity shops both in the past and recently and will happily take all these books & toys etc as well but wondered if there was anywhere else I could take them?

Anyone know of a company or somewhere / someone I can get in touch with to have them sent to a more direct source?????

Age Concern
Mencap

etc.... in the Yellow pages. If you give them a call they'll come out and collect.

ask your HV if she's knows of a toddler group/some local mums who could do with them?

alexsmum · 06/02/2006 17:54

what about local womens refuge? people turn up there with absolutely nothing and have to start their lives over again .we used to donate via someone who worked at ours.maybe look in the phone book for a contact no?

sis · 06/02/2006 17:54

Yes! contact the locals women's refuge. I can call the one that usually comes to collect my stuff and they may do the same for your stuff as you don't live too far from me. Feel free to e-mail me if you still have my e-mail address from the meet-up.

sis · 06/02/2006 17:55

great minds and all that alexsmum!

Wicked, local women's refuge sounds just the ticket. Sis, I don't have your email (at home till June now and yr details at work) but if you know the number or anything please feel free to post it here. thanks a lot.

I have their number but they don't like me giving it out! Very strange I know but I think I have the number that is not their helpline one so they are cautious of lots of people having it. So how can we do this? Can I CAT you? Have you changed your member profile so that my message will go to your home e-mail address instead of the work one?!

mazzystar · 06/02/2006 20:26

Asylum Link or your local branch of Refugee Action wold probably really really appreciate your stuff.

Hulababy · 06/02/2006 20:30

I am on an email list called freecycle (Yahoo), there's one (or more) for each county in England/Wales. Good place to give away all kinds of things.

sis · 12/02/2006 12:04

Okay, I'll try again.

sis · 12/02/2006 12:07

I have sent another CAT - hope you get it this time!
