DD is going to be 5 soon so what's new? She has a scooter, bike and a leapster. Loves arts and crafts but has pens galore. So what is new and fun? Money is not growing on trees obviously but any ideas gratefully received. Thanks.

tons of lego bricks?
playmobile?
magnifying glas/microscope? there is a cool thing that you cam plug into a tv.

lia66 · 20/03/2012 21:41

My dd is getting yet more pens and lots of paper, coloured card, stickers etc. She loves it, she is learning to write at school now as I imagine your dd is so just loves this stuff.

Shivs1974 · 20/03/2012 21:43

Dd2 got koolkardz (think that's how they spell it...!) and had lots of fun making little wallet sized laminated cards

BlueBumedFly · 20/03/2012 21:45

Ah, they do that girl Lego now don't they? Friends? Good idea :) also pens never get old I know, may have to troll through yellowmoon.com

Cannot wait until she can understand theatre/theme parks treats are good gifts!

i asked my ds what he wants for his 5th birthday and he told me - it's a new spiderman costume. can you just ask your dd what she wants?

Whatevertheweather · 20/03/2012 21:50

DD just turned 5 and her favourite presents were:

Card making kits from Hobbycraft plus lots of other craft stuff
Benderoos
Junior monopoly
Illuminated globe - she adores this and has spent a long time with it

BlueBumedFly · 20/03/2012 21:54

Thanks prisoner - l think it's me that's the problem and I need some fun things, game related like guess who, I'm potentially over thinking this as I would have loved a Spirograph at 5.

Square - I hadn't asked her to be fair, I'll try tomorrow!

A funky rucksac full of outdoor (cheap!) stuff like spades, bug-catching pot, chalks, bubbles, pack of seeds, I-spy type minibeast/garden book, gardening gloves....and of course a ball of twine for any number of adventures..they're all coming into the supermarkets now.
DS's (4.5yrs) best day out is to the garden centre...

BlueBumedFly · 20/03/2012 21:57

Like the illuminate globe! I travel with work so she'd like go track me I'm sure!

This is great, thank you ladies !

Monopoly was a big hit in our house- the board game and the card game...also gardening stuff and baking stuff

Whatevertheweather · 20/03/2012 22:06

We got this one Blue it's really lovely and tactile Smile

Guess Who these days is rubbish! Very disappointing.

MerryMarigold · 20/03/2012 22:07

Depends on the dd. Mine is 3 and she already LURVES clothes Hmm and pretty shoes etc. so I get away with getting her things she needs for birthday/ xmas. For her birthday I got her a duvet cover and one of those pink curtain-y things to go round her bed and she was totally delighted (and uses it every day!).

NormanTheForeman · 20/03/2012 22:08

Playmobil! Smile

NormanTheForeman · 20/03/2012 22:09

Lots of girls this age also like Polly Pocket/Sylvanian Families.

BlueBumedFly · 20/03/2012 22:12

Love that globe, thank you for linking it.

Clothes are a nightmare, she likes to choose but I might try some hair bands etc.

Will google Playmoble and I've just found some stencil sets in Hello Kitty that look good too.

What great ideas, thank you.

NormanTheForeman · 20/03/2012 22:15

Lots of things are possible with Playmobil, BlueBum - you only have to take a look at my profile pics to realise that........... Grin

BlueBumedFly · 20/03/2012 22:15

Polly pocket, cool. Sylvanian families could bankrupt me I suspect :)
