Does my new dvd player sounds faulty???

Bought ds a dvd player and I think it may be faulty.

The disc part keeps opening and shutting and it keeps turning itself off.

Should I take it back?

mummytosteven · 02/02/2006 16:48

or did it have a few too many beers last night

Blossomhill · 02/02/2006 16:50

I think so Hub.

Poor ds was so freaked out when it opened in the middle of the night!

Don't suppose you're having a dodgy power supply to the house, and when power is resumed, the thing chucks out the disc automagically IYSWIM ? I presume you would notice all the lights flickering etc. but maybe you would have put that down to the posession spirit thingy ?

Blossomhill · 02/02/2006 16:57

Don't hub you're scaring me!

I don't want ds's room to be haunted

Oh, bh, purlease.

Either the remote control is wedged somewhere so sending random commands, your power is failing intermittently causing the machine to eject, you are getting infra red remote control codes leaking / bouncing from another room, or, most likely: the DVD player is f*cked.

I'd return it pronto !

HTH

One problem......

I can't find receipt....

Don't think you need it according to the various acts etc. Of course it's easier, and it helps, but legally I don't believe you need it.

zippitippitoes · 02/02/2006 17:16

you can use an alternative proof of purchase such as a credit card statement

Are you sure ? If the goods don't do what they're supposed do, as this DVD player obviously doesn't, it's not fit for the purpose IYSWIM. I wouldn't have thought you needed anything tbh.

hub2dee · 02/02/2006 17:22

... except maybe a big, loud gob !
