I was talking to my friend and we got into a little debate i had said if it came to choosing a child over a partner or dh i would choose child every time as i love my child more the dh!!!! She said she would not! This seems totally gob smacking and i cant get my head around the thought that she doesn't love her dd more then anything or anyone! So am i mad for thinking this or Do you feel the same as me or would you choose dh over your child?

I have always known that whilst my mum loves me very much if it came to the crunch she would want my Dad over me or my brother. I wouldn't want to judge anyone's feelings, and I'm sure that things change as children grow, but she raised us with the intention of creating independent beings that would move away from her more and more in time - her plan failed as we all live within a one mile radius but that's choice not necessity! I think it's a 'different' love anyway but I think it's healthy to know that after your children grow and need you less (physically) that you will still have a loving relationship that doesn't revolve around children.

Kids first, obviously! I can't imagine dh and I sitting there in our dotage saying to each other, "yeah, our relationship was worth killing off one of the kids"!
