Beach or inland ?

starshaker, last summer we went to the Isle of Wight and it was just the most magical family holiday. We DID have good weather admittedly, which is the uncertain thing in this country. But it was GORGEOUS. We spent most days on the lovely sandy beaches, (Compton Bay near Freshwater is fabulous) and really we could have been anywhere in the world, it was so hot! I couldn't recommend it more, we are going back this year!

We had self catering which was about £500 for the week, which is expensive I know - but there are loads of luxury caravan places there which I'm sure would be cheaper.

Suppose it really depends on the weather, but it was a real bucket and spade remember it forever kind of family holiday!

we want somewhere quietish with places for dd to play be it a beach or a nice park. maybe with a sea life or wildlife centre. just somewhere we can have a nice time

how quiet is "quietish"?

mszebra · 31/01/2006 18:45

and where do you live now, thinking you probably don't want to travel too far.
Any of the "resort" type places but out of shcool hols might do.

LIZS · 31/01/2006 19:55

how about a self catering cottage or apartment in a farm setting ? We stayed at one in Devon which had an indoor pool when ds was 5 months.

starshaker · 31/01/2006 19:57

we live in a very quiet place (only 15 houses) in scotland. wouldnt mind it being in scotland just not too close to ayr lol

You can't beat 'Wales' for holiday's to remember, the kids will love it....

Surfermum · 31/01/2006 20:02

What about Cornwall? Do you want self-catering or not?

Surfermum · 31/01/2006 20:03

Oh, just noticed you're in Scotland, maybe that's too far then.

starshaker · 31/01/2006 20:03

if we went to cornwall we could stay with my bro as he has just been posted down there with the raf

Cornwall is beautiful. Great places for kids too

Dairyland (or Cow World as DS called it, is a must)

Surfermum · 31/01/2006 20:05

Go then! It's lovely. We have great holidays there. Whereabouts is he? You can fly to Newquay Airport these days.

starshaker · 31/01/2006 20:43

had a look for places and found this think this may be top of our list at the mo
