inspired by hunker's lost brown bear thread i thought i'd ask. about 3.5 yrs ago, when dd was little i bought a small white 'cuddle cloth' from h&m. its squareish, velvety with bias binding edging, with an elephants head attached centrally on the top edge. it was only about £2.50, dd absolutly loves it, we did have 2, but the childminder lost one. at the time i went to every branch of h&m to try and get another, even the london ones when i was down there for work, and emailed all of their head offices worldwide (they didn't even reply).

have never seen anything like it in there since, and i do keep checking so i thought it might be worth giving the power of mumsnet a try and see if anyone had one tucked away they might like to sell.........

I have seen these in Mothercare - can't say they had an elephant on but def little cloth towel type things with a little toy attached to the corner.

I'm in the same boat. W/a grey and white stuffed dog from M&S bought for DD1 in 2003. She LOVES him, calls him Pippin, and I wish we had a spare, just in case. He's in the washing machine just now, wrapped in a pillow case, b/c he's beyond grotty.

Was it something similar to this?

towel thing

it was smaller and simpler in design. the one we have is falling apart, and i guard it with my life!. i've seen lots of them around but nothing the same as this one from h&m. i even made one, which she was just begining to like, then the childminder lost that too

We have these in the supermarkets here in France, they are very popular. Just a square cloth, towelling like material, with an animal head stuck on one corner. I could have a look for an elephant one if you like?

lucykate · 31/01/2006 21:40

the one she's in love with has the head in the middle of one of the edges rather than in the corner, and its white. its only small, about 10" square and more like velvet than towelling fabric. dh thinks she's coming to an age where we should be taking it off her, she's 4, but she only has it at bed time or when she's poorly. it's just its falling apart!

she calls it 'nopoo' , don't know where she got that name from!. i've tried lots of other cuddle cloths, have got about 10 different ones now, but its the one that came from h&m that she took to.

So the head is not directly on the corner, but sort of in the middle of a corner? The ones I'm thinking of I'm pretty sure come in velvety stuff too, but the blanket bit is plain.

one here but it's in america!

Is it about the size of a glove puppet (for an adult hand!)? They still have stripey dog ones in the Croydon H&M but no elephants. Looks almost like a dog soft toy with no stuffing and knots onthe corners rather than paws.
