A dead mouse has been posted through my letterbox

I'm upset and a bit shaken.

It had been picked up with a length of toilet paper which was caught up in my letter box. The mouse had dropped to the floor.

I don't think it's kids messing about. It happened at dead on 9am when I would normally be out. The bastard had to pass 2 other doors to get to mine and the toilet paper was uncrumpled and fresh from the roll.

It must have been a neighbour Sad. I've wrapped the mouse up in a plastic bag and binned it - is that the right thing to do?

What kind of twat behaves this way?

Oh that's horrible! You must be very upset.

Any ideas who could have done it?

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 21/02/2012 09:53

Do you have a cat?

Not that a cat would do that (obviously) but if you do maybe it's been dropping them on a neighbours doorstep and they're a bit irritated and are 'returning' it to you? Not that this is acceptable - just trying to think of a reason that isn't just being incredibly weird and creepy!

peggotty · 21/02/2012 09:54

Do you have a cat? Could the cat have caught and left it on a neighbours doorstep or garden and they've taken the (stupid, cowardly and pointless) step of posting it through your letterbox as some kind of protest?

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 09:55

The man upstairs possibly. He's a cunt. ExP moved out last week and I can see him doing something like this to intimidate me now I don't have a man around to 'have a word' with him.

I don't know though. I don't know why anyone would want to do this to me.

My first thought was that it's petty revenge for something your cat has done, if you have a cat that is.

iwasyoungonce · 21/02/2012 09:55

I have no idea what goes on inside someone's head that would do this. It must be somebody slightly unhinged.

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 09:55

No, I don't have a cat.

I'd report it. Tbh. Just in case there's any thing else about to happen

iwasyoungonce · 21/02/2012 09:58

I suppose you should make a diary note, in case something similar happens. Maybe call the police for advice?

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 09:58

I will call the police later. ExP is coming to collect DS at 12 so I'll do it then. I don't want to do it until he's gone because he doesn't know and it will frighten him.

Good plan. :)

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 21/02/2012 10:06

Someone thinks you have a cat. Even if you don't.

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 10:09

I don't think so Saggar. I live in a block of flats and we're not allowed pets.

Sometimes people just do stuff.
They dont care who they are doing it to.
They dont chose someone for a particular reason.
It might just be some idiot who thought it would be funny to do it someone, anyone.

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 10:27

I hope you're right MrsDeVere and it isn't a malicious act.

OP posts:
OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 21/02/2012 11:06

I hope so too knock
Do you have any reason to think someone would target you deliberately?
I mean in more than a 'this'll piss the women in NoX off ha ha' sort of way.

Someone might have found it outside their door, gone in to get some tissue and instead of putting it down the chute or in the outside bin just thought it would be funny to stick in your letter box.

People are stupid like that.

Try not to worry too much.

KnockDiddyKnockKnock · 21/02/2012 11:22

Yes, I think that's most likely what has happened MrsDV. The mouse was intact so I doubt if a cat had had a go at it, it was probably poisoned. I think somebody has a mouse problem and found a dead one this morning and decided to dispose of it in my letterbox.

There is an oddbod living opposite me who everybody hates. I'm wondering if it was left on her doorstep and she thinks I did it so is 'giving it back'. Could be anything. I'm not going to worry anymore unless something else happens.
