I am very angry!!!

Houses!!

We moved from London to Winchester in September. Our house sale hadn't quite completed so we decided to rent for 6 months as we wanted Alex to start secondary school at the beginning of term. We did and the sale of our house went through a few weeks later so we started to look for another house to buy.

We found one we liked, but the vendors hadn't started looking so we told them not to panic as we were tied to our rental place for another five months so they had plenty of time. They took 4 weeks to find somewhere, quite a long time, but we weren't worried as we had a good timescale.

Anyway, their vendor started to mess around, first of all he had to take buliders into the house he wanted before he would commit, then he had to get a non-status mortgage, then he kept getting gazumped. But our vendors really wanted his house so they hung on....and on.

Eventually push comes to shove and we start saying we need a definate completion date so we know what is happening with our rental house. Thier estate agent rang to say that they had no faith in the man that his clients were buying from and that he felt due to our timescale we should look at other properties as a precaution.
All this time our vendors have been calling us telling us what is happening, some would say telling us too much but there you go.

Last week our vendor rang and offered to lower the price of the house by 5K if we would agree to stay in our rental property a bit longer as they were pulling out of their original purchase. We agreed but said we wanted the completion date to be April at the latest. Fine they said, our vendor even spoke to me on Monday as he was worried we were going to pull out. I told him we weren't and it was all ok. As far as I knew!! So we have increased our rental period by 6 months, the minimum we can do.

We recieve a letter today from the estate agent to say that they are no longer selling to us. It transpires that they found somewhere else and it can move pretty quickly. They were no longer prepared to lower the price for us and had accepted an offer for 5K ABOVE our original offer!! It turns out that they had a viewing at the weekend!! So as you can imagine we are quite upset about this. We have already paid nearly a thousand pounds in solicitors fees and searches and we will lose that. They and the Estate Agents by arranging a viewing at the weekend have been totally underhand!! People just don't care do they. Thye know we have small children!!

So it's back to square one

Sorry for the rant, needed to do it!!

Don't anyone ever move, it's not worth the stress!!

I'm selling at the moment, it has already fallen through once, very stressful. In fact, DH and I have had to resign ourselves to the fact that nothing is definite until you sign the contracts, up until that point it is a ticking bomb . Sorry you've been mucked around, cm

Sorry to hear that - they sound like sharks anmd may well ahave messed you about further anyway . . As a point of interest you shouldn't have had to sign up for a full 6 months if extending an orignal agreement, it can just roll on with a defined notice period on each side.

We are selling too The agents are useless tbh and every week our house isn't in the paper and now I have noticed it hasn't been in their window either. They are coming to re do the details as the pictures are rubbish but it seems endless I TOTALLY sympathise xx

oh, how awful! I really feel for you!

We were messed about a little bit (grr, probate sale), but nothing like as bad as that.
Try not to use that estate agent again if you can help it - their ethics seem to leave a bit to be desired - and if it helps, start referring to sellers in an Ian-McKellen-as-Gandalf accent - the Venndorrrr!

I am just so upset by it, the vendor has called us non-stop in an effort to be 'friendly' about it, but obviously only to keep us on side. We are not naive, we have bought and obviously sold before, but we actually considered them to be genuinely honest people!! They even invited us around for coffee when they accepted our offer. And again on Monday to measure up!!

I also feel they have deliberately done it this week as they know DH is working in Berlin until the weekend.

Anyway, stuff their house, we will find a much, much nicer one........I hope

Just read my last post and realised it sounded odd. I meant the vendors have called us about the house sale constantly since we put in our offer, not since they so meanly gazumped us. Doubt they will call now!!!!
