yesterday, i ordered a taxi to pick up my 3 kids and me from school-cos it was absolutely freezing! there's a "no stop, wait, park on yellow lines" policy outside the school and rightly so as the childrens'safety is a perogative.however, when the taxi picked me up, he didn't get into a space where all the cars park up but instead just sort of stayed almost in the middle of the road which is exactly what all the driving parents do everyday anyway-believe me, i've stood outside school sometimes and cringed at how people just drop their kids anywhere, some of them still driving,so as to go with the flow of the traffic and the kids are kind of winding in and out of the traffic some of them not even looking! anyway, although a bit embarrassed, i got my kids into the taxi and was just about to get in myself when one of the mothers-who is as guilty of all this herself and drives a big car-decided to have a go at the taxi driver. i felt really small cos she didn't look at me all the way through her rant but went on and on about how the police had informed all taxi firms etc. (i have often told the taxi drivers to park up rather than just drop us and they always say "let them fine me"!!!)at the end of the day, although some of what she was saying made sense, did she have the right to make me look so small aswell? what makes her better than me just cos she's got a nice, comfortable warm car to sit in? (we've got one too but I don't drive!)
