I know its a bit morbid but its something that has been bothering me for a while. I have a ds 2.3yrs and DD 5wks. I keep thinking if something happens to dh and I who would take our kids. DHs parents are quite old and ill so couldnt cope with having the kids. I dont get on with my mum and was abused by her husband who she is still married to even though she is aware of the abuse. Ideally I would like y youngest sister to have them but her dad is my mums husband so obviously I couldnt let her have them. WE have no close friends so what happens???????

they'd be taken into care. unless you have specified someone to take care of them when you die

I had the same question, a while back, and started a thread .

It's always tricky. Just can't decide who we would chose for the DCs. Yet we have two nephews (one on DH's side and one on my side), both a few months younger than DD and I would have either of them in a flash if the situation arose.

Must re-read Hula's DH's article.

The only people DH and I could agree on are friends, who I haven't worked up the nerve to ask.

Well, my SIL has a baby now, so we'll see how that goes. I think their approach is probably similar to ours.

NQC can completely understand your dilemma. I have a good friend who I know is fab with kids but has none of her own. Also feel its a huge thing to ask someone and we dont see her regularly which is my fault more than hers. I just feel at a loss as to who to ask to have the most precious things in the world to me.
