Can anyone recommend a hairdresser in SW/W London for my mum?

She's looking for a good, friendly hairdresser around the SW or W London area. A lot of the salons around here look intimidatingly trendy and, in her words, she doesn't want to come out looking "a fright". She's not an old-woman-wanting-a-queen-hairstyle either though. So she's looking for somewhere friendly, not intimidating and preferably chic.

Help!

II use Headmasters - currently in New Malden but have also used the Putney one and there are others around. They always seem to be friendly and cater for a wide range of people.

headmasters

thanks hazellnut - what sort of price range are they? (no price list on the website)

HQ in Kingston - they really seem to make an effort to keep customers - even phone you up to remind you about your appointment

I should've been abit more specific about area - Kingston's a bit too far out - we're in SW5, so somewhere a bit more central? I'll see if HQ have any other branches

I think I pay forty something for a good level of stylist (can't remember too well as detest having hair cut so avoid as much as poss) so there is a range depending on what level you have - I would say betwene 30 and 50 for cut and blow dry.

haris in south ken (on brompton road where it almost turns into fulham road, near joseph.

don't be put off by location - very good, very nice salon NOT at stupid prices. ie about 80 for a good cut (as opposed to 150 everywhere else around there).

she should ask for Ben (there are 2 - ask for the ben who used to work at John Frieda).

thank you for those ideas PPH and hazellnut
