poor you twiglett. Do you have any family who can come over and help?

naayie · 11/11/2003 11:49

men!

naayie · 11/11/2003 11:49

hope you feel better soon.

oliveoil · 11/11/2003 11:50

Give him a kiss later and try and infect him. Then give zero sympathy when he is moaning on the settee.

Know what you mean, I have been laid low for about 2 weeks with first a tummy bug then this damn cold which will not go.

How old is ds?

Hide some vomit in his dinner then he will def catch it (have to give him minestrone or something to disguise it) And then as Oliveoil says ignore him when he is ill. Heh heh!

CountessDracula · 11/11/2003 11:56

twiglett have you tried juicing? Then you can get all your vits without eating too much. Watch out for carrots though as they have too much vit A

Poor you twiglett.

Just wanted to add that if you find Pregnacare makes you feel sick try Sanatogen ProNatal. Most of my friends felt really rough on Pregnacare and a few of us switched to Santogen and were fine.

Hope you feel better soon though.

handlemecarefully · 11/11/2003 12:14

That's appalling of dh - how the heck does he expect you to function and look after ds in that state. I would be feeling murderous!!!

Get well soon twiglett. I would echo what gem says - don't try the pregnacare - its unkind to the stomach and bowels. At your stage in pregnancy I think the advice is that a few days of not eating is not going to be harmful to baby

arabella2 · 11/11/2003 12:40

Poor you. My dh is also appallingly unsympathetic when I am ill. I am pregnant as well and he was really horrible during morning sickness. I also had the same bug as you (I think) which lasted one day last week and again dh turns into some kind of monster (I think) or maybe my sensitivities are just heightened. My ds was sick too but luckily only twice. I was really scared it would be an all nighter and I would have to look after him feeling rough myself but luckily that didn't happen.
Best of luck getting through today and hope you feel better soon. Does your ds like watching videos on tv?????

Blu · 11/11/2003 12:50

Throw up on a few towels on the bathroom floor and leave it for him to clean up, telling him you were just too ill, busy with DS etc...

Zerub · 11/11/2003 13:01

Where does dh work? Do you feel up to taking ds in for a little vist? Praps not if you're both feeling horrid but its a nice thought! Definitely phone him every 20 minutes to tell him how you're doing.

Pregnant women in WWII in places where there wasn't enough food - Leningrad, Japanese camps etc - starved but gave birth to relatively healthy babies. Babies are parasites and they take every last little nutrient they need from you before your body is allowed any for itself!

handlemecarefully · 11/11/2003 13:02

Zerub,

I heard that too from an Obstetrician at my hospital

fisil · 11/11/2003 18:41

Men!

Dp to me with tummy bug: "make sure you clear up where you pissed on the floor."

Me to Dp with tummy bug: "Ok darling, go and lie down in the spare bed while I change these sheets."

I don't care how gross it is - go for CD's strategy with the soup.

codswallop · 11/11/2003 18:46

have never had a day in bed ill in 5 years - dh is always abroad when I am ill

Paula71 · 11/11/2003 20:05

Know exactly how you feel. Last week this bug passed through both twin ds' then me. DH just had to go to work, to escape the projectile vomit.

Then he got it. Tried not to gloat but I was very unsympathetic and cruel after all, you get what you give! And he deserved a little dig when he got to stay in bed but I had to look after the boys when I was sick grrrrr!

florenceuk · 11/11/2003 20:22

Twiglett, much sympathy and sorry DH is so unhelpful. Try a sports drink like Gatorade - I found it was one thing I could drink when feeling nauseous - or flat Coke.

Grrr...how annoying. My gripe on this is that when my DH is ill he can just go to bed whereas when I am ill I have to just carry on regardless. Twiglett your arent acting ill enough..lol..next time put on a real performance of vomiting and feeling faint so that he just HAS to stay hom!!!!

Take care and Hope you are feeling much better soon.

Twiglett, poor you, much sympathy. I've had it too - spent all Monday night puking in a bowl while sitting on the loo (more info. than you wanted maybe?) and have felt like death warmed up ever since. Dh has been off work for two days and I could not have coped without him.

Ds1 was sent home from school this afternoon, after being sick, and has thrown up ever since (has been asleep a couple of hours now so I hope the worst is over).

Just waiting for ds2 to succumb now....

On silver lining side, have lost 6lbs in two days.
