Ideas for a Retail Unit

If you were to open your own shop, what would you open. We area considering opening a shop, but would like a feel for what other people would want..

There's a kids clothes shop in Bromley that has a kids hairdressers out the back. A good selction of video's to watch - or you can bring your own. £5 for a kids cut- it was good.

daisy and tom in manchester has a kids hairdressers - quite good. £10 a go (for every 5 haircuts you get one free) and they have toys, videos etc to keep them amused.

can you get yours done too?

no, just for kids. they are good hairdressers but not sure I'd want them cutting my hair. good idea to get both done at once though.

I'm a sucker for wooden toys, so perhaps an old fashioned toyshop - with the kind of toys that have lasting appeal and no character branding, combined with a coffee shop and a creche/play area (supplied with the type of toys which were for sale in the shop of course). The idea of being able to call in for coffee in reasonably civilised surroundings and at the same time let your little ones off the metaphorical leash in the middle of a shopping to play for a bit would certainly be something I'd welcome around here. And make it really child/mum friendly - perhaps have events aimed at new mums to encourage them to come in at the same time and meet others in the same situation, things like that.

The other one, which has already been done near here, but I don't think is too common is a sort of "farmers market in the town" deli/cafe combination, with all the food specifically sourced locally. The one near us seems to be becoming increasingly popular so it seems to be a winning formula.
