you know those old ladies that we all moan about... well one of them has just made my day!

I was crossing a big road with my ds's (3 and 1) where there are 3 zebra crossings to go over.

I was telling him to look left and right and see if its clear as you do and when we got to the other side this little old ladie turns to me and says

"you know dear, so many people complain about young moms today but you are a good mother and your children are very lucky"

I almost fainted and said thank you!

She had seen us in wilkinsons too where i had given DS his own shopping and money and let him pay for it.

She has made my day!

That's really nice to hear.

How nice of her - glad she made your day! I had a similar thing when ds1 was tiny, I'd dragged myself to a cafe and was feeding him discreetly in a corner. A 70-something lady approached us and my heart sank, thinking she was going to ask to see the baby and would be embarrassed when she realised I was feeding. Then she just put her hand on my arm and said "It's so lovely to see you feeding your baby out here, I used to be a midwife and I always said that breastfeeing was a wonderful thing. Well done". Love that old lady!

(get rid of the WUSS btw it doesn't apply!)

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 13:06

I've had old ladies say positive things to me about breastfeeding. And we have an old age home next door, so see loads of old ladies in the street. Both my boys really like the old ladies.

Isnt it strange how a few words fom a stranger (good or bad) can make such a difference to your day!

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 12/01/2006 13:10

yup LGJ - did you see the school gate thread that I updated, I was amazed! So glad you pushed me into doing the right thing!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 12/01/2006 13:50

It wasn't so much pushing, as bossing you within an inch of your life.

hotmama · 12/01/2006 13:57

Topmum!

Ah, that's lovely Tamba.

An old lady in the doctors waiting room this morning said I was beautiful - she's probably terribly short-sighted but it certainly raised my spirits.
