Which show shall DD and I see while the boys are at the Gadget Show?

DH and DS are going to see Gadget Show Live in April and so DD and I would like to go and see a show that day. Last year we had the same scenario and we saw The Lion King. DD will be just turned 7 by April 2012. Any recommendations please?

Shrek? I'm hearing mixed reviews but then that's always the case I guess.

Railway Children? Will it still be on by then?

War Horse? Recommended age is 10+

Matilda? I can't find a recommended age but the book was quite scary in parts huh?

Any other thoughts or ideas please? It doesn't have to be central London, big production. I'm a big fan of smaller local theatres. We are Hertfordshire/North London area.

Many thanks.

Matilda - the film version isn't scary at all, and dd loved it and still does aged 11 y.o. now.

Railway Children is good. What about Swallows and Amazons if its still on in April? Same producers as War Horse I think. I've got tickets for next month.

thanks for the replies. Swallows and Amazons will be in Sheffield for the date i need so no good for us although it looks fab. Railway Children closes in january so it looks like it's Matilda.

Took DD 7 to see Matilda and it is a truly fantastic show. There are a couple of slightly scary bits but fun scary if that makes sense (ie DD and her friend enjoyed peeking through their hands ). The headmistress character is humorous as well as scary.

Age recommendation is 6 plus and I think that is about right. Go for it if you can get tickets!

We saw Matilda when it was at Stratford. It was a brilliant performance. Not at all scary. I'd go see it again in an instant.
