I think you have to have your own business for Costco, that's how we get in (dh, not lowly moi).

It's not that good tbh.

OO you can also be in certain employment eg police, teaching, NHS and council I think - -a new one opened near us a few wks back but we didn't qualify on any count

I run our local Mother & Toddler group and am hoping to use that to get in. I need to take the cheque book and two recent bills over £50 and personal i.d.

I'd like to know if it's worth the money, I can join through work but don't know if it's worth it..

LIZS · 04/01/2006 14:54

various professional bodies such as accountancy and banking can apparently used to get you membership.

sunchowder · 04/01/2006 14:54

In the US, anyone can join. I think Costco is fabulous, well worth the money to join. If you make one major purchase a year, it pays for the membership (appliance, computer, furniture, etc.). The quality of the meats and cheeses in the US stores is really, really good.

Just about anyone working in the public sector can join the one up here. They are not very selective IME but it sounds from other threads on here as though it varies from area to area. Do you know anyone who is currently a member? That might help.

Alibubbles - can us childminders use as business then? I went on their website and it mentioned company letterhead etc which I don't have for either childminding or website business?

nutcracker · 04/01/2006 19:23

Hmm well dp is a lorry driver, and i work in a shop so I don't think we would count.

When I went on the website I'm sure it said only businesses?? Anyway, thanks Alibubbles, should design letterhead for website work anyway so I'll get on with it!
