I'm pretty sure I dont want white. I'm thinking grey.

Please give me some inspiration, dresses are not my thing.

What did everyone else wear?

Its not a big wedding by the way but want to wear a 'wedding' type dress.

Well I am biased because I had a 50s style dress and now I sell them, but I think they are 'bridal' without being OTT and you can get pretty much any colour you like. There's also the chance you might wear it again too if it's a colour and not a full length style.

Also if you want a more 'traditional' bridal type dress, Ian Stuart does a lot of dresses in soft colours including greys, blush pinks etc. His dresses are amazing quality and beautifull constructed, many of them are quite 'theatrical' too.

You could have something designed and made - I had my dress made by Joanne Fleming in Brighton. Take a look at her website, she does evening and bridal gowns and she has huge books full of fabric swatches to choose from. www.joanneflemingdesign.com

I sympathise - i don't do the big white meringue either...

How about a corset? You can wear them with smart trousers, if you wanted to avoid the dress theme altogether, and you can get them in all sorts of colours - I went for one because it was dressier than a trouser suit. Went to www.whatkatiedid.com They have a shop in London.

At least it is something different!

emsyj - was wondering if you could send me some info about the type of dresses you sell? Tried on a 50s style dress today and really liked it but it was black :(
