The Scottish feminist lobby has come up with a wonderful wheeze to encouage men to act responsibly in many social settings, not least because apparently, if given the chance, they will rape, every single one.
Run this past your husband or boyfriend, or indeed any male you know (perhaps your teenage son) and make sure they know the proper social etiquette for the 21st century.
Luckily modern feminists can never be accused of calling all men rapists, huh?
The helpful advice is in the form of a poster
Here's the list in full;
- Don't put drugs in women's drinks.
- When you see a woman walking by herself, leave her alone.
- If you pull over to help a woman whose care has broken down, remember not to rape her.
- If are in a lift and a woman gets in, don't rape her.
- Never creep into a woman's home through an unlocked window, or spring out at her from between parked cars, or rape her.
- USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM
If you are not able to yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while your are in public.
- Don't forget, it's not sex with someone who's asleep or unconscious - it's RAPE!
- Carry a whistle if you are worried you might assault someone 'by accident' you can hand it to the person your are with, so they can call for help.
- Don't forget. Honesty is the best policy. If you have every intendtion of having sex later on with the woman you're dating regardless of how she feels about it, tell her directly that there is every chance you will rape her. If you don't communicate your intentions, she may take it as a sign that you do not plan to rape her and inadvertaintly feel safe.
- Don't rape.
I love number 8. I thought the 'Rape Whistle' was a MENZ wind-up, but it turns out to be a valid piss-take on their part.
And number 3. Hey, after reading this, what man would pull over to help a woman?
My husband is thinking of carrying a cardboard sign to use on the lift 'I don't intend to rape you'. I imagine there could be a new industry of stickers, badges and emblems that men can wear, particularly at work to indicate they don't intend to rape. Just to make women feel at ease.
And I love the picture of the shouting smiling woman. And the BUDDY SYSTEM. How wonderful is that?
