Dd has been driving us mad all week singing a strange song that we can't join in with. I assume she heard it at nursery but can't ask them till later in the week.
Ok, it goes something like this:

'standing on a chimney, standing on a chimney
tick tock tick
tick tock tick'

standing could be dancing and chimney could be timney (?)
Anybody up to speed on nursery rhymes? OR possibly films that she's watched (Shrek?)

It's not When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney, is it?

sparklymieow · 03/01/2006 11:11

I wonder if its Santa got stuck done the chimney too

Hayls · 03/01/2006 11:14

I did think that but she can definitely say Santa but doesn't mention that at any point! It's driving me mad

yes but ds can say 'sheep' but his version of baa baa black sheep is 'yes.... yes'...

MrsBadger · 03/01/2006 11:36

long shot - it's not the last bit of Frere Jaques is it? It's just the 'tick tock tick' sounds so like the 'ding dong ding'...

kate100 · 03/01/2006 11:40

could it be the song from the Tweenies where they 'build a house with a chimney tall'? Or Hickory Dickory Dock?

Feistybird · 03/01/2006 11:41

There are lots of songs that use the frere jacques tune - will ask dd1...

I think Mrs Badger is right you know. It's the last nbit of Frere Jacques.

SoupDragon · 03/01/2006 14:03

Sonnez les matines, Sonnez les matines
Ding Ding Dong, Ding Ding Dong

Hayls · 03/01/2006 14:11

Jura, you are a star. THat is almost definitely the song. Dd is asleep just now but I@ll test it out when she wakes up.

ds had a card from the in-laws that played that song and twinkled - drove us madddd!

Hayls · 03/01/2006 14:27

Aah but had I received a card like that Iwouldn't have been driven mad for the past 10 days wondering what my dd was singing!
(But can see why it does have that effect- anyone else singing Frere Jacques in their head?)
