Ear Piercings...retainers....what to buy

My daughters had their ears pierced three months ago at Claires. We were told that an earring should be left in for 6 months so that the holes don't heal up.
I thought that the schools would allow the girls to cover their earrings with plasters. They have so far but now want them out for school.
We took them out for the length of the school day but by 4pm I had to really bodge them back through as the holes were closing.
I have heard that you can buy invisible retainers but am confused as to which ones to buy. Some of the websites are telling me that the retainers may be too large as the piercings were done by a gun.
Does anyone have any experience/ advice please?

They can't wear them at all during school hours? DD just plasters over for PE & took them out for swimming (I put them back in when I next saw her). Are they not able to take them out themselves?

Sorry to warn you, I know this will kick off!

One of them can wear them but has to take them out for games. She is having trouble putting them back in afterwards.

The other one can't wear them at all which is why I had them done in the summer thinking they would be ok to take out after the 6 week healing period. Claires' told me about leaving them in for 6 months after they were done!

It took DD a while to learn how to put them in, too.
I would definitely leave them in as much as possible.
I must admit most people say 6 weeks is usually long enough, but it wasn't quite for DD, either.
I hope you have some luck with the retainer thingies, might just have to buy some & see if they'll work.

I tell my students to put them in and twizzle them round every break time, then take them out again. Means they're only out for a couple of hours at most which should be ok. Check the school allows plastic ones - ours aren't even allowed those!

Thanks. Have ventured into a tattoo/piercing place this morning and bought something that looks like it might work. Will have a go this evening! Such a nuisance....wish we had waited until they were 18 now!
