Does anybody know where I can get a reasonably priced wooden dolls house for my daughters Christmas present?Tried ELC but they are out of stock, but would ideally like a dolls house with and opening front.

Have you tried some car boot sales or like and doing it up yourself, like re-papering it? Or if you are feeling really inspired you can make your own from some shelves. Saw this being done on that programme called change this. Didnt see it all, she was just papering it but she might like one made by her mum.

Judith1 - not sure where you live but if you're near either Manchester or London, try 'Daisy and Tom'. Got one for my daughter from there - cheaper than ELC and include the furniture. You just have to buy the family - you can get that from ELC for about a tenner. Only smallish but very cute - roof and front open up. They have quite a few types in there - not checked if they have a website or not.

Judith1 - keep trying ELC, there are a few of the houses kicking about. My partner's nan got one in the Darlington store after we'd been looking unsuccesfully for a couple of weeks.

John Lewis sell a Georgian one (more expensive than ELC ) and the Great Little Trading Company also sell a version. I think there's 10% off if you mention Mumsnet - look at Mumsnet homepage. HTH

Also - I saw a really nice one in a small toy shop the other day. Very similar to the ELC one but more expensive. The house was £80 and the rooms and families were £13-£20 rather than £10. They also had a very large wooden Georgian doll's house which looked fantastic, I can't remember the price (possibly around £125).

Thanks. Will have a look around. Will have a look at the Great Littloe Trading Company too.
