I had to take my cat to the emergancy vet on xmas eve as he was very poorly. He cost me 172 pounds, which i had to borrow. Now I know that the PDSA helped me before when he had a fight and they paid the remaining 50 from the 90 pounds bill (as I was told to pay the first 40) Now whenever I had tried to phoned them and see if they will help me, they say no because I am not in their catchment area. I am a bit confused. they are closed atm, and I can't get through on any of their numbers.
Does anyone know if they should help?

I remember my dm using the PDSA for her dog a few years ago. Things may have changed between then and now though. DM was receiving benefits so she was allowed to use the PDSA. Our local branch is a few miles from where we live so I don't know what the problem is with the catchment area.

I understood they only help if you are on benefits (don't know which benefits qualify either, sorry)

Do sympathise over cat- ours started losing blood from her back end on the evening of Xmas Eve & we had to ring the surgery on Xmas Day. Fortunately they said it sounded like a urine infection and told us to switch her food and give her lots of water. I had visions of a four figure bill for emergency treatment Xmas Day.

been trying to get through to the PDSA this morning can't get through on any of the numbers.. grrr. Have spoken to my vet and they want to see him today but are going to charge the check up fee of 18 until I find out about the funding. At least if he falls ill again he is insured now.
