Shoulder length with lots of long layers, especially through the front?

acnebride · 23/12/2005 11:04

I'd just ask for the original Rachel cut for a smile - always ask for what you really want IMO - if only there were names for all the cuts it would make life a lot easier- like IKEA!

oooh i think that would suit me! I am looking at hair styles so might go for that one! (cause i have waist lengh hair that is so thick and frizzy and wavy and i need to get it sorted!)

Kelly1978 · 23/12/2005 11:05

I'm thinking about that sort of thing, lots of layers at the front to frame the face. I need to get my hair sorted - not been to hairdresser for about 18 months now.

OnZephyrstDayofXmas · 23/12/2005 11:10

I haven't had my haircut since I was pg with ds and he's now 18 months! When I had that one done I found a pic of jennifer Anniston in a mag and showed it to them - still felt a bit silly though lol Long layers sounds about right I think!!

My american friend always called that style 'the shag' not sure youd get quite the same response here asking for that in the hairdressers... and agree, you should say out loud youre thinking of the rachel cut, hope it turns out fabuous!

thecattleareALOHing · 23/12/2005 11:15

Take a photo in of the style you want. I think Jennifer Aniston has had so many different hairstyles that you cannot be sure that you and the hairdresser have the same cut in mind unless you do. Hairdressers like it if you take in pictures.

acnebride · 23/12/2005 11:16

i think taking a picture is really sensible - that's why they have all those hair magazines at the front (actually i guess prob because they get them free). i have occasionally tried taking a picture of myself at a time when i had a cut i liked. at least it shows the length i want but i don't know that they ever really looked.

A Rachel

or I think it is called a long shag, but don't quote me on that one.

Kelly1978 · 23/12/2005 11:38

I think u'd be better off askign for a 'racheal' than for a long shag.

OnZephyrstDayofXmas · 23/12/2005 11:39

Hmmm......... "Hiya, I'd like a long shag please..."

Take along a picture of her, it's the only way to get across what you want.

I always feel really naff uncrumpling my hopeful photo at the hairdressers. I always expect them the burst into laughter in a 'who are you kidding - you'll never look like her!' type of way.

Thankfully they don't do that (just me feeling vulnerable as I always do at the hairdressers), and it does save confusion when you're trying to explain what you want.

Pollyannainexcelsis · 23/12/2005 12:05

for ages I took in a picture of Denise Van Outen (when she had her short bob) - it was very embarrassing! (I don't look anything like her!).
