My sisters annual Christmas freak out!!!

My sister (who is a little unstable at the best of times it has to be said) has a major freak out about something EVERY Christmas, and this year's one is a corker!! My mum and dad were babysitting her 8 year old dd whilst she went out for a christmas meal with friends. She asked my mum to tape Coronation Street for her, which she did, and she watched it when she got home. The next morning she phoned my mum in floods of tears (mum thought something awful had happened) to say she hadn't slept all night and felt sick to the stomach because Eileen on Corrie had said that there was no Father Christmas and she JUST KNEW her dd had heard it. She wanted to know her dd's exact whereabouts when this was said, Mum couldn't remember, then she said it was all my Mum's fault that her dd now knew the truth and that she had ruined Christmas - like she knows the script content before it's aired or something!!!
She is a total nutcase but now my mum is all upset too!! Aaarrgghh

Oh boy! Sorry to say that but sounds like your sister needs a life!

If her dd had heard it and had been upset by it I'm sure she surely would have noticed? And even if she heard it... well 'it was something this silly person on telly said and it isn't true' could make up for it.

BUT to blame your mum for it!!! Aaarrgghh indeed

If your neice is 8 she will defintely heard about it at school by now anyway and either believed it or thought the person who said it was stupid. Either way it wont have damaged her. I can't believe your sister has reacted like that to your mum. I'd only be too glad to have a babysitter once a year or something as family live so far away. I'd never phone up the next day and criticise them! Good luck with the rest of Christmas!!
