Don't buy concert tickets through Getmetickets.com

Mine & K's tickets arrived on Tuesday (concert on Thurs) but Mum & Dad who were going too still hadn't had theirs by Wednesday (major panic!) several telephone calls later and they were told to pick their tickets up from the Getmetickets.com office in central London. So we went there Thursday lunchtime and Dad was given a compliments slip with a mobile phone number on and told to go to Earls Court at 7pm, ring the number and someone would meet him with the tickets!!!!

A journalist was outside and told Dad not to leave without his tickets or a refund or he would lose it all, so he went back in and started arguing to be physically thrown out!

As you can imagine it kind of spoiled the mood, K & I didn't know what to do 'cos we had our tickets, Mum & Dad were gutted and Dad was really shaken up after being man-handled.

Anyway - we tried the number at 7pm and miracle of miracles it was answered and Dad was told to go to the bus stop up the road where an old guy (in his 60s) was sat with a big wad of tickets!!!!

So alls well that ends well - but what a day!!!

Coldplay were amazing and it was nice to have a child free day -

Just thought I'd warn you because apparently this guy is renowned for selling more tickets than he can get hold of and the previuos night 400 people were let down.

Sorry it wasnt last night, it was last week but still a nightmare story

charlietherednosedpussy · 20/12/2005 21:24

Ok...they are clinging onto the hope that they will get them. They have a no refund policy on the website. Is that legal?

Anymore news Charlie?

charlietherednosedpussy · 22/12/2005 11:04

None at all, think her other half was going to see if he could find out when the tickets are released so he knows when to really start panicking.
It was gutting, My siter said "I didnt get to see them when I was young and im not going to get to see them now"

Right. I used to work for a concert promoter and sometimes Arena tickets are not released to the agent until they have paid. So that may explain the delay.

Also, if is for the stadium shows, they print fancy tickets for these (not the usual Ticketmaster style computerised ones) and this can take a bit of time.

Shows are not till next year so maybe they will get them next year? Not sure.

Phone them and get some answers but try not to panic just yet.

£270 seems a lot, how many was it for and for which event?

charlietherednosedpussy · 22/12/2005 11:09

26th of may im thinking it was and for 2.

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 11:11

2!!!! Bloody hell that is expensive. They seem like touts to me.

Is it with hotel rooms etc?

charlietherednosedpussy · 22/12/2005 11:12

no just the tickets. If yoy look at getmeticket.net they are not the dearest either.

Hmmmmm, this sort of thing used to really pee me off.

Face value + a nominal booking fee should be the max, I think b/f are usually about 10% of the ticket price.

Hope you get your tickets but don't deal with these type of people, they are rip offs imo.

I was about to post pretty much what Olive OIl did until I saw she' beaten me to it. I used to work for TicketMaster. Its highly likely the tickets are speically printed (hard tickets as they are known) and won't even have been printed yet.

£270 does sound like an awful lot. The guy does sound like a tout. I'd really only stick to well known reputable companies. The booking fee should never me more than the face value of a ticket - but it will alter from agency to agency depending on the agreements the agent has struck with the promoter. It should always be broken down for you what is the face value and what is the booking fee, I'm pretty sure thats law.

Hope it all gets sorted out.

I haven't dealt with them myself, but last year they sold some U2 tickets and I heard on the grapevine there were plenty of problems with them
