Cause I don't think ours does. Easy to tell if you live in a house, but in a flat its not quite so easy to be so sure.

I have a very nice post lady and whilst my ebay habit was going strong , if she met me (or my mum!) in the street she would check if I had any parcels to save me having to go and pick them up from town!
(also got given one once whilst waiting to drop dd1 at school )

Ours does - but not until 1-2pm now. Really late here.

anoushka, i would look into the registered letter thing, as most registered letter guarentee next day delivery, or at least just a couple of days. If it has gone missing you need to registration number which your mum will have got and you should get compensation

thanks i was trying not to panic because it is coming from ireland and i know the post is delayed i am getting xmas cards from local friends and it's taking four days so i have two more days so i am going to wait i will be realy mad if it's gone

Roobietherednosedreindeer · 21/12/2005 23:17

Ours comes every day - I buy so much stuff from eBay and other online retailers that he is always knocking on the door to hand over packets etc.

christmaslovingbluealien · 21/12/2005 23:20

unfortunatly comes with piles and piles of junkmail. and no matter how many ties i have asked him to put it striaght in the bin, he still puts it through the letterbox, or hands it to me.

MrsSpoon · 21/12/2005 23:24

Our postie is here every day (we run a business from home so it is a very rare day there is no post).

As for the post getting later, I know one or two posties locally and what has happened in this are is that many posties have been made redundant and the remaining posties have been given extra duties at the sorting office in the morning plus extra houses on their round. One woman I know whose DH is a postie says he is working horrendous hours at times and is constantly exhausted.

MrsSpoon · 21/12/2005 23:25

Also AFAIK they don't get paid any extra for the extra hours they get paid for the job to be done, not matter how long it takes.

We live at the back of beyond and our Postie only visits the village if he has lots of post. We normally get post on Mon, Wed and Fridays....never on a Saturday

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth · 21/12/2005 23:49

Could that be why my mail is always damp?
