One Christmas, before we were married, DH got me a stapler, a file box thing ( to keep my bills in) and a hole punch!!!
can you beat that?

I got an electric toothbrush too - I had asked for it, but wasn't expecting it to be my only present.

my exH bought me a box of Maltesers and one of those shower attachments you put on the washbasin taps. The Maltesers were thoughtful, as I do like them, and we didn't have much money at the time, but I found it hard to be thrilled with the shower spray! His excuse was, we needed one for the flat.

My lovely DH is much more thoughtful, thank goodness.

Surely must be time to revive this thread?

My worst was actually a birthday prezzie: fuzzy bathroom rugs & seat cushion: pure hygiene hazards. And a microwave oven for Xmas... I don't LIKE microwave ovens.

If we could afford it, this year I'd like to get DH a loft ladder in revenge.

An ex-boyfriend of mine bought me a teapot for xmas. One of the stainless steel kind you see in motorway service stations that burn your hands and dribble everywhere, and the lid which never fits properly. He even wondered why I never used it !

SHIREENSMOM · 11/12/2003 18:10

for our first christmas together my dp bought me a apron with tea pots on it and i made him wear it and cook dinner he said he got it for me so my clothes dont get dirty when im doing all the cooking and cleaning (bless him)

Forestfly · 11/12/2003 18:13

My first boyfriend got me a bottle of perfume called Channel, market maybe????

BadHair · 11/12/2003 18:27

Long ago ex-bf got me "ethnic" knitted slipper socks that sent the dog into a frenzy, a 50p "grow your own crystal tree" and a cd with one of his favourite bands on. That's when I knew that the writing was on the wall ...

I think it could be this year - a few weeks ago dh said he was going to get me a sandwich toaster. I am officially a mum and should clearly be able to provide hot sandwiches at all times

marthamoo · 11/12/2003 20:52

I'm worried I might be getting a slow cooker this year...

He's quite good (usually) at Christmas presents, but when I was pregnant with ds2 he got me two CDs and a jar of beetroot for my birthday (I had been having beetroot cravings).

And for my 30th I got a tumble-drier and a thesaurus.

Dannie · 11/12/2003 21:41

I came across mine in a cupboard yesterday. Looks like I'm getting an electric toothbrush (I guess he doesn't like me using his -- I have a separate brush head and jut share the battery bit, I hasten to point out) and a paperback copy of a book I already have in hardback, so that'll be handy
For my birthday a month ago i got the video of the 2nd Lord of the Rings film in the widescreen edition, though we don't have a widescreen tv and if I ever have 4 childfree hours again I probably won't spend them watching telly.

bunny2 · 12/12/2003 19:13

I got an umbrella last year. And a Santana cd (I hate Santana and never played the one he bought me the Xmas before so God only knows why he bought another one)

LHP · 12/12/2003 19:35

A karaoke machine because his mate's 10 yr old dd had one and she loves hers

XWIsBonkers · 16/10/2015 16:10

On our first Christmas after separating having sent a case of wine to settle her into her new single home, my darling XW gave me a bottle of champagne but also every Christmas present I'd ever given her cut up into small pieces. Can anyone translate this message for me ?

Whatsername24 · 18/10/2015 21:03

My lovely DH was feeling very pleased with himself one Christmas because he said he'd bought me something that he knew I'd want but wouldn't realise myself that I actually wanted it until I opened it (if that makes sense), and that it also proved that he listened and remembered things I'd said.

He'd bought me a telescope. His reason being that I'd once mentioned that I love to a clear starry sky. He set it up in the bedroom window on Christmas night, found Saturn and called me from the comfort of the lounge to see it (and it was beautiful) but it was such a faff to focus that I never bothered with it and it ended up as a kind of bag/scarf holder.

Deedeecupcake · 18/10/2015 21:20

Jesus XW, how many years did you spend searching to resurrect this zombie thread

Stillunexpected · 19/10/2015 17:01

Seriously, how DO people manage to resurrect a thread which is 12 YEARS old!!! I can understand someone doing a search on e.g. a particular school or a health condition and not realising that the thread they uncover is an old one, but how does someone stumble across a 12 year old thread about Christmas presents?!

jadorecakesnbiscuits · 22/11/2015 19:47

Mine was actually nothing at all for 3 xmas and birthdays in a row because "I pay for things all year round" (he didn't) I wouldn't mind but he didn't even give me a card?
