What am I supposed to use? And why does my white stuff always become grey even though I wash it separately? Very boring question I know......

I have a friend who puts a small ammount of bleach in the washing machine with cotton whites. Swears by it. Never tried it myself though and not entirely sure it's a good idea!

try glo white, its suppose to be for net curtains but it will be fine for cotton duvet covers

what about Napisan ?

OhlittletownofEIDSVOLD · 18/12/2005 20:50

napisan or vanish oxy action....

tillykins · 18/12/2005 20:53

I'd try a bit of bleach - its supposed to clean out your machine as well!

tillykins · 18/12/2005 20:53

or dye it another colour

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 18/12/2005 20:57

napisan is excellent

Do you wash it with a 'color' powder?

colour powders contain NO bleaching agents, so will NOT make your whites white.
On the other hand 'non colour' powders conatin bleaching agents that WILL fade your colours, so it important to have 2 powders on the go AS WELL as sorting the washing.

Vanish oxy action will 'bleach' it as will the bleaching agent that ecover make (that you are supposed to add when you are washing whites, cause their liquid is for colours as it has no bleacing agents)

Line drying also helps thinsg stay white as the suns natural UV rays bleach things as well.
