I loathe glitter in or on cards. It's not pretty, it's annoying.

Blandmum · 16/12/2005 13:56

I've just spent the better part of 15 frigging minutes hoovering it up out of my carpet.....and I'm not the house proud type.

It is such a flaming waste of time, money and the earths resources.

Bloody stupid stuff (she says reasonably)

Bless you MB, it's the science teacher talking again, isn't it?

'Here is the card for Mrs and Mrs M Bishop dear, I'm sure they would love to hoover up silver stars when they open the card! Let's put in a nice big handful!'

agghhhh I have a friend who does this every year. It drives me mad. I have to hoover it all up straight away and stop ds2 eating it. She thinks she's being really different but you can buy it from every card shop ffs. No-one else puts it in because they are all sensible people except her.

ParrupupumScum · 16/12/2005 14:54

I like glitter and stars! Makes the carpet look much nicer than usual, I find.

chjlly · 16/12/2005 14:55

Someone sent me an invitation once with lots of bits in unfortunately it got delivered to the wrong house - they had to open it to find out if there was any idea of who the proper recipient/sender was thus having lots of mess on their floor - that'll teach them to open someone else mail!!

snowfalls · 16/12/2005 14:57

When ds gets cards from school, I make him open them in the classroom before we leave........................well, the cleaners go in every night

partypooka · 16/12/2005 16:39

My next door neighbour had to take her 6 month old dd to a&e after she hoovered and missed a bit of star confetti. It got caught in the back of her dd's throat. Cue violent coughing, vomiting and enless drool.

RudiRedNose · 16/12/2005 17:41

I'd prefer a cheque personally!

IOTAnnenbaum · 16/12/2005 18:01

partypooka - I have done the dash to A&E with ds2 after a star confetti incident - came out of a party bag (another reason to hate them)

roisin · 16/12/2005 18:39

At this time of year our carpet is covered in glitter anyway
We never get it all out until about February!

Having said that I've never been on the giving or receiving end of such an exploding card.
