Am off to Bluewater today and am not coming home until I've bought birthday and Christmas presents for dd who'll be 12 in a week. She has no bright ideas and neither have I. Please please help - I have no clue, am flexible on budget but no TVs etc. She has an MP3, hair gadgets, cd player etc. Def not into designer (or fake) handbags etc, ears not pierced...

Does she like reading - you could ask the staff in Waterstone's what is selling well for that age group. At 12 I was into hair/bath/body lotion. Or a good pair of boots/shoes. Does the present need to be a surprise? If not, could you take her to buy a really special piece of clothing?

Art and craft set???
How about a scrapbook set and a camera so she can take loads of piccies of Christmas and then make up a scrapbook of them.
There is a brilliant starter scrapbook set available for £29.99...it includes the album and all the bits and pieces you need to make up the pages. Its made by Papermania and most good art and craft shops shoud stock it.

Great, thanks everyone. Lots of ideas I hadn't even thought of. Off to shopping central now - probably back by about Thursday!
