After about 4 years of solid use taming my naturally curly hair into sleekness my GHDs seem to have died. The wire seems to be coming away.

I really could do without shellnig out for new pair but I see no option. Has anyone used any that are just as good as GHDs for less or is it still the case that GHDs are miles better than any other?

Pecka, I just bought some ghds a month ago and they are the best. I had some pretty pricey non-ghd ones but they were nowhere near as good as my new (pink) ghds.

If you do decide to replace them, have a look at www.jasonshankey.co.uk it was the cheapest place I found to buy them and they were delivered next day too!

I think there is no doubt that GHDs ARE by far the best!

I got mine online direct from GHD, and my large ones (the wide plates) were about £80 inc postage i think!

oooh ghds!!just thought id warn you of my recent experience! like you i have very evil naturally curly hair, think 30yr old shirly temple.....my ghds only lasted 2 and a bit years before they died just recently. i was genuinely bereft!!!! they are THE only straighteners to work on my hair, and to KEEP it straight, as you will know. I ended up sending mine back to ghd, (can find address for you if you wish) stating sales of goods and services act (dh is a bit legal) they sent a letter back saying they COULD repair them , cost would be 40something pounds inc postage. Now me being thrifty would have jumped at the chance, my hair now resembling that of a swamp hog, but no, dh refused, saying they should repair them for free.......i ended up having them sent back unrepaired. 4 weeks later we were still batteling , i wanted ONLY ghds (stamping my feet like a 2 yr old) dh saying "didnt want to line companys pockets if product doesnt last". HA HA HA i won, i bought a new pair from my hairdresser while he was at golf of course i am now silky haired goddess once more, and he has gotten over it. I say buy some more and say they are from santa (as i did) because you will probably always feel that you are could of got a better finish even if you buy "alternative" ones. hope my little informatin sesh has helped!!!
