...often have their ears pierced very soon after birth because it's 'less traumatic'.

Don't know why but it makes me shudder a bit.

my 29 year old dsis had her ear pierced last month. the upper cartilaginous bit. made me naseous when she asked me to clean it out.

The woman telling me this suggested it happened the same day as the birth. I would have wept if anyone had done anything like that to my baby. (But I am a bit of a weeper...)

I dont know about same day but they do, do it very early. I have seen tiny weeny babies. Dd is 4 and wants to know why she hasn't got her ears pierced.

i think i had my ears pierced at 4 weeks, as did my 3 girl cousins.......
