A friend of mine is collecting them on behalf of a friend of hers. If she can collect enough of them she will get a free wheelchair. The only thing is...she has to collect the equivalent weight (of the wheelchair) in bottle tops!!! God knows how many thousands that is

Anyhoo, I'm collecting them and have told all my friends and neighbours, and wondered if any of you lovely mumsnetters wanted to join in. You could send them to me and I will pass them on to my friend.

That's all the details I have atm, but can try and find out a bit more about it when I see my friend next.

If you fancy helping out, CAT me and I will send you my address. I'm not getting my emails atm but they are collecting on the server and I should be able to access them by the w/e, so don't worry if you don't hear from me for a while.

northerner · 08/12/2005 18:01

You'll need millions to have the equivalent weight of a wheelchair surely?

But Yes I'll send you mine.

BluStocking · 08/12/2005 18:06

You mean if you need a wheelchair, you have to pay for it?

What happens to all the bottle tops?

Nemoinapeartree · 08/12/2005 18:16

do you mean the plastic ones like on four pint bottles????????

hovely · 08/12/2005 20:13

Just any brand, any supermarket milk?

anchovies · 08/12/2005 20:17

Dont know if it's the same thing but have you seen this. Have heard recently about a local family who were distraught to find out in their case it was a hoax.

Janh · 08/12/2005 20:18

Why? I'd be happy to save and send mine but would like to see a website or something that explained it all first.

Janh · 08/12/2005 20:19

Thank you, anchovies, that was what I was afraid of

MIstletAOU · 08/12/2005 21:33

I will follow this up. That is really sad if my friend (and the one needing the wheelchair) are being taken for a ride. They are both elderly ladies. .

Your quite welcome to have ours if it is genuine. Let us know.

followthestarlover · 08/12/2005 21:49

aww i hope it is genuine... see if you can find out who it is organised by.

tbh you really would need millions of caps to make up the weight of a wheelchair though, which makes it seem a bit odd...

hope for their sakes it is real though!
