What do you think about this story?

I think that the whole happenstance side of it is very creepy - both suicidal, both the same age. Read an article yesterday that banged on about hte recipient being a single mother living in a council flat, as though that made any difference. Although in a way, perhaps it does? She does seem so tragic and alone and in the proverbial sh*t.

It was done for free - all recontstructive surgery qualifies here, purely cosmetic doesn't.

I think she had lost al the cartilege in her nose and the bone in her chin (tmi?)

But, presume she must have agreed to the publicity?

Why, as a depressed/suicidal/maimed woman would she want the media spotlight on her? Surely it would have been much better to "come out" to the world's press a year from now if/when the operation had been successful and she had had some time to adjust?

Can you imagine .. it said in the article I read that she will begin to get feeling over the next few months .. can you imagine feeling yourself kissing your children again

twig - I was referring to her bone structure which defined her face before all this - snowfalls was saying that the graft would take the outline form of her original face.

Surely her chin would have been built back up with metal plated.

Bumping my thread back. i take back everything I said or thought about it being creepy. She is in this weeks Paris Match. She looked like something out of night of the living dead before (there is a photo) and she had to go out with a mask. She could not eat (food just fell out of her mouth with no lips to hold it in, ditto saliva) and she could not talk intelligibly.

The after photos are amazing. She looks normal and pretty ish and so different, even days post surgery. They have shaded her eyes so she is unrecognisable.

I can really see why they did this. Incredible.
