Thought a reminder thread for all the different online shopping places might be useful.

Sainsburys for you

Booking slots are now available to book!
Last date for making an order is the 19th.
Last day for delivery is the 23rd.

I have booked my delivery slot - 8 till 9 on the 23rd. Have placed my main order but will need to keep adding I think!

Yes, Ocado. But remember to put something in the sodding trolley or the delivery slot disappears!

FestiveFrex · 03/12/2005 08:58

I've been cursing Sainsburys for a couple of days now. I placed an order but it came back with an error message and I didn't receive a confirmatory email. So, naturally, I assumed that the order hadn't gone through. I now won't let me place another order for that day (22nd) and keeps telling me that I already have an order placed and to check my scheduled deliveries. There is nothing in my scheduled deliveries. I've sent them 2 emails but not received anything other than a standard acknowledgement. So I've had to place my order with Ocado - which I love but they are more expensive.

partypooka · 03/12/2005 10:33

Davros - does that mean that you can add things to your order at a later date, with OCcado?

biglipskissinunderthemistletoe · 03/12/2005 10:45

asda is the 22nd dec - last day delivery order

NannyL · 03/12/2005 10:56

Ocado are a little more expenisve for some things but they do have much more ethical policies, especially when it comes to there eggs and meat and fish, so your little extra money goes to help make the world a more sustainable place

Poshpaws · 03/12/2005 11:06

How thick am I?

Thanks MN. Was just looking at the Tesco screen thinking 'How can I book my Christmas shopping in advance. I haven't even made a list yet. And you can only keep the slot up to 2 hours.'

Then I read this thread...

Have now ordered some nappies so that I can keep the slot on the 22nd and will just keep adding...d'oh

yoyo · 03/12/2005 11:15

For Ocado you need a minimum spend of £75 to get your slot but you can alter your order up until the 19th December (11pm I think).

FestiveFrex · 03/12/2005 11:58

I am aware of Ocaodo's ethical policies which is why I use them whenever I can, but sometimes finances dictate that my conscience has to take a back seat. Also, they don't seem to have any turkeys to add to the order which is a bit unfortunate at this time of year!

Eaney · 03/12/2005 12:30

Do you really think Ocado is more expensive. I did alot of research on this about a year ago and compared my usual buys against sainsbury's nd tesco's and found there was vey little in it especially when you consider the free delivery Ocado offer.

I think Ocado is not very good at special offers but generally the pricing is competative. There is a website you can use to comapre prices I think it is called Trolly Dollies.

It could have changed

Hulababy · 03/12/2005 17:06

Round here Waitrose is definitely way more expensive that elsewhere. We don't have home delivery from them or Ocado (same place is it?)

A normal average weekly shop at waitrose will cost me approx £10 a week more compared to Sainsburys. And compared to Asda or Morrisons it is £15-£20 more expensive as a minimum.

I love Waitrose but don't do my main shop there now the novelty of it being here has gone I just use it for dinner parties/having people round or special occasions.

Did mine about a month ago with Ocado.

I jut bunged in £75 of any old thing to secure a delivery slot. have since gone back and changed it so that its got sensible things on it.

You can change the order as many times as you like until the final date (19th I think), as long as you have committed to ordering over £75 of something.

Have booked delivery for late pm on 23rd, just in case something goes wrong and I have to run round like a nutter on the 24th, but Ocado have always been brilliant.

mandylifeboats · 03/12/2005 19:00

I book a slot for the week before xmas for all the boring , heavy bits that will keep, then have a nice time shopping for all the nice but perishable bits on 22nd/23rd, love Tesco shopping

yoyo · 05/12/2005 11:53

Puff - I did the same but I must remember to change it or we'll only have champagne for Christmas!
