That was the greeting I got when I went into dd who has just turned three....

To say I was shocked is an understatement. I asked her why she said it and she said that my mum has been telling her about her grandad who died in 1987 and explaining that he was in heaven.

She then said that mum told her heaven was a lovely place and grandad was watching her.

I just told her never to say she wanted to die again but think I should probably have handled it better.

Big shock isn't it Galaxy?
I remember when ds said this as a toddler, its the concept of loss they do not understand, they only know the good things people say about it (heaven, peacefuness safety), so it sounds like some pretty utopia.
DD was about 5 before he got to grips with the actualities of death, from our cat being run over...

I was gob-smacked! She knows that people and animals die (goldfish died last year) but obviously has no concept of why.

I think it coincided with ds drawling big black pictures so it really freaked me out...
Of course he's actually fine

My daughter announced a few months ago she did'nt want to die alone and please could i make sure i was there
i tried to explain that she did'nt need to worry about this yet but i don't think she understand , she's 4 and i don't know why she started thinking about death!

DS regularly says that he would like us all to die together and be in the same grave. He normally says it while we are having a cuddle at bedtime. Doesn't seem remotely upset by the concept - normally has a smile on his face so just think he wants to get things organised so he's guaranteed cuddles in the afterlife! That said, did freak me out when he first came out with it.

DD told me yesterday on the way to school that she hoped we would see each other after we die. Ehhhhhhhh?
