so they say at audiology.

they dont know why either.

sh'es extatic as i spent most of the appt asking about strategies to deal with her not wearing her aids. then they tested her and the lady said " err. am confused one minute i need to get this checked" she then came back with someone else and now we are being medically refered to find out why she can now hear.

shes getting a speech therapy referal - so thats good.

its all bizarre.

worst of all i can no longer legitimatley go to the brighton special needs piss ups.

she just keeps saying rather loudly " I AM A WALKING MIRICLE"

after all the meetings with the school, the waiting to get the aids fixed after she fed them to the dog ...twice.

i can't quite believe it !

Tortington · 29/11/2005 18:35

should have justified it - sshe was partially deaf - 40% but thats a lot isn't it?

OP posts:
bundle · 29/11/2005 18:36

40% sounds a lot to me, was that at certain frequencies, or across the whole lot?

GeorginaA · 29/11/2005 18:41

CONGRATULATIONS! What brilliant news!

MABS · 29/11/2005 18:49

delighted Custy , brilliant

HRHQoQ · 29/11/2005 18:54

That's fantastic news - DS2's godmothers grandaughter (you still with me ) was diagnosed deaf (or only partially hearing as your DD was) but it fixed itself on it's own too - she was 5 when she regained her hearing - and by 6yrs old talking brilliantly.

gingerbear · 29/11/2005 18:56

brilliant news custy.

marthamoo · 29/11/2005 18:58

It's a Christmas miracle! Fantastic news. I read your initial post very fast and interpreted it as "she fed the hearing aids to the dog as she doesn't need them anymore" which I thought was a bit hard on the dog

Tortington · 29/11/2005 19:43

lmao marthamoo.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 19:46

Seriously wierd!!

But obviously fantastic

Tortington · 29/11/2005 19:55

bundle it was certain frequencies and back ground noise - theres stillsomething going on regarding the background noise but her hearing is good enough not to warrent a hearing aid she will see a hearing therapist !! who will help her with strategies with background noise.

Blimey - fantastic news.

I have now better than 20/20 vision after needing glasses/lenses for 20 years. I too thought I was a medical miracle! - but this is wonderful news.

And thanks btw for organising the meetup. I was GUTTED not to come. It sounded wonderful.
