My baby is nearly five months old. Can anyone clear up, whether or not babies can be submerged in water at the pool for a few seconds or not. I seem to be hearing two sides. One yes they can, only for a few seconds, two, no because they can swallow the water. Any advice please!!

Yes they can, definitely. My instructor taught us how to blow on their faces so they instictively hold their breath then submerge them slowly (too fast and they panic and breath in)The coughing relex is excellent so they cough it al up anyway
Best advice is to smile loads when they come up even if you're bricking it

Thanks Hayls. So I blow gently in her face then submerge. What age is your baby when he/she 'went under'?

Sorry, forgot about this thread. My dd was about 6 months. She loves water now and is supremely confident (in fact too confident sometimes!)

We went swimming and she went under and she was fine. She seems to really like the water. We are now going on a 12 week course.
