My DDs stayed there in Feb, Jemma - on a Thistle umpteen% off deal - it is a nice hotel and very central, they loved it. Room was tiny though.

Sorry, if you want to know anything specific please ask! (Neither is here at the mo though.)

Must be perfectly placed for shopping though, that's good enough reason for me to stay anywhere

Stayed there after a work do about 2 yrs ago. Arrived back in room approx 1am absolutlely ravenous, and rang for sarnie from 24hr room service. Was told the chef was off and they couldn't do anything - didn't think this was good enough and made a bit of a fuss, as I only wanted a sandwich and didn't see why this required a chef! Anyway, lovely cheese and tomato sandwich arrived in due course, was eaten and went to bed. Next day had worst food poisoning EVER! Now I'm sure the hotel is great most of the time - but DON'T ARGUE WITH ROOMSERVICE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!

Thanks ladies!

Not too bothered about the room being small Janh -wasn't plan on spending much time there to be honest!

Thanks for the advise MBB - I WONT be ringing room service at all whilst we are there.

Cheers

I stayed there in February this year for a couple of days midweek, and absolutely loved it - the location is fantastic, literally 30 seconds walk from Oxford Street and just round the corner from Selfridges. We had the full english breakfast each morning which was great, and there's also the choice of a continental breakfast - croissants, fruit etc, we didn't get food poisoning so i reckon you could risk it!
Although we had to wait half an hour when we first checked in before our room was ready, the staff were friendly and there was a lovely doorman.

Just came back from a four day shopping trip to London with two mates. We stayed in the Selfridge and it is a great location - you can even see when Marks and Sparks open their doors while you're having breakfast but the room service was APPALLING!

We stayed in with tired feet and 'wife swap' and decided to order room service. Big mistake. It took an hour to arrive and the burgers smelled really off! We sent them back and ordered something different. By 21:30 we gave up and cancelled the order.

Try www.london-hotel.co.uk and click on the Hip hotels button. Pics are good and we found a lovely hotel in Notting Hill at a discount price. It also has a bit about Selfridges.

Jemm7, have you given up on your other thread "things to do in London"? The last post was mine telling you to go to Marylebone High st via the Wallace Collection cafe/restaurant. Its well worth it and very close. ALso mentioned the idea of lunch at The Royal Academy after "doing" Bond St and Burlington Arcade AND have since found out that there's a Georgio Armani exhibition at the RA. Hope you have a great time
